A serverless file sharing application built on AWS that provides end-to-end encryption for secure file transfers. Users can upload files, generate shareable links with expiration, and track download analytics, all without managing any servers.
Problem Statement
Existing file sharing solutions either lack proper encryption, have file size limitations, or require expensive server infrastructure. Students and small businesses need a cost-effective, secure file sharing solution that scales automatically and ensures data privacy through client-side encryption before upload.
Objectives
Design a serverless architecture using AWS Lambda and S3
Implement client-side AES-256 encryption before upload
Build shareable link generation with configurable expiration
Create a download tracking and analytics system
Develop a clean, responsive user interface
Modules
File Upload Service
Client-side encryption and chunked upload to S3 via presigned URLs generated by Lambda.
Link Management
Generate shareable links with password protection, download limits, and expiration dates.
Download Service
Secure file retrieval with client-side decryption, download counting, and access logging.
Analytics Dashboard
Track file views, downloads, geographic distribution, and bandwidth usage.
User Management
Cognito-based authentication with storage quotas and usage history.
Expected Output
A fully serverless file sharing platform where users can upload encrypted files up to 5GB, share them via secure links with optional password protection and expiration, and monitor download activity through an analytics dashboard. The platform auto-scales and costs nearly nothing when idle.
Future Scope
Add support for folder sharing, real-time collaboration on documents, integration with cloud storage providers (Google Drive, Dropbox), a desktop sync client, and compliance features for enterprise use (audit logs, data residency).
